Plan a Cooking Class at Make This Yours NC Teaching Studio

Plan a cooking class for 2 to 6 people at Make This Yours NC Teaching Studio.  Gather to enjoy time  with friends, to celebrate a birthday, a bridal or baby shower. There is no set schedule for the cooking classes; instead, classes are scheduled by request based on participants’ schedules.  Cooking classes can be planned for as few as 2 or as many as 6 participants. Due to the amount of preparation for each class, no cooking class will be taught for only one participant. To schedule a cooking class, invite a friend or organize a group of 2 – 6 persons, then pick the date, time and theme of the class. The registration of $35 per person covers instruction, ingredients, and a seated meal to enjoy the dishes prepared in the class.  Copies of recipes used in the class will be provided. (Each cooking class lasts 3 hours.)

Choose from the following class themes:

Discovering Vinegar as an Ingredient (new):  The wide variety of vinegars available now at grocery and specialty stores can be intimidating. This class is designed to lead you past the traditional “vinegar as a salad dressing”, by introducing a variety of traditional and infused vinegars and incorporating these vinegars into unique salads, vegetable side dishes, and even an appetizer.  Dishes and vinegar varietals will include: Appetizers – Fennel, Pistachio and Roasted Beet Spread (sherry vinegar); Salads – Red, White and Green Salad (champagne vinegar), Quinoa Salad with Currants and Pine Nuts (sherry vinegar); Vegetable Side Dishes –  Sautéed Spinach with Goat Cheese (strawberry infused balsamic vinegar), and Sautéed Brussels Sprouts with Dates (aged balsamic vinegar). Who knows…there may even be a vinegar used with dessert!

Roasted Eggplant Parmesan (new):  This class uses a combination of ingredients to create Eggplant Parmesan similar to the dish I once experienced in Florence, Italy.  Slices of eggplant are marinated in olive oil and herbs and roasted in the oven. The roasted eggplant is then nestled into layers with marinara sauce and fresh mozzarella and baked to blend textures and flavors into one incredible food experience.  Apple-Coconut Crunch finishes this savory meal with a touch of sweetness

Pie for Dinner: Take away your fear of making pie crusts in this class as we create two types of crusts; a savory crust that will enclose roasted root vegetables and goat cheese in a Vegetable Tarte, and a dessert crust that serves as the base for a delicious Walnut Galette.

Italian I – The Art of Pasta: We will make 2 types of fresh pasta to create fettuccine and ravioli accompanied by two different sauces to enhance the pasta. Dessert will be Cranberry-Almond Biscotti.

Italian II – A Taste of Tuscany: This class introduces a different side of Italian cooking with Chicken Saltimbocca, Creamy Mushroom Risotto and Sauteed Spinach with Feta. Torta Chocolata (a melt-in-your-mouth, flourless chocolate cake) completes the meal.

Salad Sampler: Roasted Winter Squash Salad, Denver Rice Salad and Apple-Basil Chicken Salad can be used as side dishes or combined to make a meal. A lite sundae of gelato, toasted coconut and sliced almonds provides a surprisingly easy, but delicious, dessert.
Note: All recipes for this class are vegetarian and gluten free.

Fill-You-Up Soups: Choose one meat-based soup from either Crazy Quilt Chili or Warms You Twice Turkey (or chicken) Soup and one vegetable based soup from either Sweet Potato/Ginger Soup or Butternut Squash Bisque.  Apple and Dried Fruit Compote over ice cream for dessert cools the palate after an evening of warm, savory soups.

Vegetarian Entrees: This class includes techniques for slicing cauliflower to make “steaks” and roasting root vegetables to bring out their natural sweetness.  The class menu includes Cauliflower Steak served over a pilaf of brown rice blended with roasted sweet potatoes, roasted beets, sauteed spinach and leeks. Dessert is a fruit, nut and oat bar that is made with dates, raisins, oats and nuts…and doesn’t requiring baking!

Seafood in 30 Minutes:  In this class, we actually prepare two meals which can be created within 30 minutes each. Pan-Seared Scallops with Bacon are served over a pilaf of brown rice, and Herb-Crusted Salmon is nestled on a bed of sauteed fresh spinach. A dessert of Cinnamon Apples completes the theme of quick and easy recipes. This class is recommended for groups of no more than 2 – 4 persons.

American Eclectic: Pork Tenderloin with Apricot-Mustard Glaze, Mushroom-Rice Pilaf, Parmesan Roasted Asparagus, Winter Fruit Salad with Pears, Dates and Walnuts, and Chocolate Chess Pie.

Design Your Own Class: Review the recipes posted to this website, and choose an entree, side dish and dessert to design your own class.  All posted recipes can be accessed by clicking on “Recipes” found in the list of options the right side of the home page. All recipes chosen for the “Design Your Own Class” must be selected from those posted to this website and not from outside sources. So…read through the more than 40 recipes posted and then contact me to plan your class.

The cost of each class is $35.00 per personClass size is limited to no more than 6 persons, except where noted, to allow active participation.  Each class lasts approximately 3 hours and includes either lunch or dinner, depending on the time of the class.

Cancellation Policy
A minimum enrollment of 2 persons is required for a class to be held. Class size is limited to 6 participants to allow for maximum personal instruction. A refund of the registration fee for a scheduled class will be given only if notification is received no less than 3 days prior to the start of the class.
